HIV & AIDS Awareness

HIV and Aids are issues that have led to considerable misinformation, confusion and misunderstandings; often resulting in to poor and inappropriate provision of services and discrimination against service users.

This one day course aims to demystify the subject and promote working methods so that workers could provide the most effective and respectful support possible.

• How HIV is transmitted-Challenging the myths
• How HIV is prevented
• Medical and other services available
• Some of the “moral” issues and how they could impact on the welfare of people affected
• The non judgemental approach that is required to support people affected
• What is expected from support staff
