Learning outcomes By the end of the course learners should understand: • What is meant by ‘delegation’ • Why we need to delegate • Why we might resist delegating: - personal drives, lack of trust, ‘Ego’ etc. • Holding on: the potential professional and personal cost for the Manager • What is stress and how it manifests • The consequences for the team of not being delegated tasks • The potential consequences for service users • What the benefits are of delegation: - for the manager, staff development, the organisation • What the constraints are • Why we might not delegate more if we have opportunities to do so • Guidelines for effective delegation • The impact of poor delegation • What the process really involves • Creating the conditions for effective delegation • The Delegation Plan |
