Introduction to Health & Safety

Current legislation demands that staff be aware and conversant with Health and Safety duties and responsibilities.

This course affords the opportunity to have this subject explored in an interesting and unusually lively fashion. Many of our course evaluations have stated that attendees did not believe it was possible to have this subject delivered in such an enlightening and enjoyable way.

Learning objectives:

By the end of this training the learner should be able to:

• Understand the relevance to them of The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999
• Understand how RIDDOR 1995 relates to their work role
• Understand related European Directives
• Understand the key elements of the organisation’s Health & Safety Policy
• Know the responsibilities of the organisation and managers.
• Know their own and other employees’ responsibilities.
• Understand consultation and the role of the Safety Representative
• Identify hazards and potential accidents/incidents in the workplace
• Know the importance of reporting
• How Risk Assessments apply to their work
• Understand the key principles of Basic Food Hygiene
• Understand the key principles of COSHH
• Know how to implement safe working practices
• Examine where they believe current procedures to be inadequate and what possible solutions exist for changing these
