Participants will understand the legal requirements and recommended guidance relating to the subject. They will learn the principles of good back care, moving and handling techniques and the use of relevant handling equipment. The course will provide a theoretical framework on how the body works and how we can look after it, but the main focus will be on how this information can be applied to “real-life” situations.
Learners will be encouraged to share their experience and to participate in using equipment and techniques recommended by the Royal College of Nursing (1998).
