Office Health & Safety (1 day)

Current legislation requires that staff to be aware and conversant with Health & Safety duties and responsibilities.

This course affords the opportunity to have the subject explored in an interesting and unusually lively fashion. This course is suitable for any member of staff who works primarily in an office based setting.

Learning objectives:

By the end of this training the learner should be able to:

• Know their role and responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
• Understand the requirement to do Risk Assessment under The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999
• Understand related European Directives:
        -The display screen equipment regulations 1992
        -The Health & Safety (workplace) Regulations 1992
        -The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
• Understand the key elements of the organisation’s Health & Safety Policy
• Identify common health hazards associated when working with computers
• Understand strategies for the prevention of:
        -headache
        -eye strain
        -Repetitive Strain Disorders
• Identify environmental hazards in their workplace
• How to prevent slips, trips and falls
• Know the minimum standards for the work environment
• Know how to work in a safe way
• Understand the principles of good Moving and Handling
• Examine the work environment to identify unsafe conditions
• Understand strategies for resolving these situations
