Course Profile: Risk Assessment in a Mental Health Context (1 Day)
This course defines the aims of risk assessment, identifies different levels of risk and reinforces the need to accompany this work with risk management and contingency plans. Learners will explore risk from the perspective of both support workers and service users and consider the issues of capacity and choice. Risk terminology is introduced and ‘unpacked’ and attention is paid to the legislative structure. Specific Mental Health factors, confidentiality and managing, rather than eliminating risk are all featured.
The course is informed by Mental Health Act 2007, Mental Capacity Act 2005.
