Training the Trainer in Safeguarding Adults
Accredited by the South of England Open College Network
This course is designed for senior practitioners, managers and trainers and aims
to provide them with the background knowledge and training methods so as to
deliver courses in the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults to others.
The course includes a full training pack that learners may use on an ongoing
basis.
Learners would register with us, attend the course and prepare a short
assignment post training for assessment purposes. On successful completion of
this learners will receive accreditation from the National Open College Network.
The accreditation certificate is valid for three years, after which learners
would need to attend a one day update to revalidate their achievement.
Content:
This course covers the background issues raised in the DOH “NO Secrets”. It
highlights issues such as the meaning of abuse, who might be the abusers, how
abuse might happen in support settings. The course also looks at patterns of
abuse, how abuse might impact on the individual, and what indicators might
suggest that someone has been or is being abused.
Other material covered includes the impact of abuse on the alleged perpetrator
and others involved in the support of Vulnerable Adults.
Learners will clearly understand what their role and responsibilities are in the
prevention and reporting of abuse and this will be linked to their individual
organisations policies.
Learners will be prepared for leading programmes in the subject by being
familiarised with a clearly scripted induction programme designed by Norman Mark
